What are you passionate about?
I'm all about the simple joys of life. That's why I love being Evie's friend and hanging out with other awesome kids. They're so passionate about all those delicious things in life that many out-of-touch, boring, modern-day folk just ignore. Like making amazing bubbles in a pool of water, scruffing on a soft blanket, watching dust dance in the air, or experimenting with all the different sounds they can make with their voices. I personally love running for hours through the woods, feeling squishy mud on my bare feet, singing like a maniac when I'm driving in my car, dancing full out and letting the energy take my body where it will, eating all natural and super yummy foods from the earth - especially in form of big green smoothies!, dressing up in silly costumes, connecting with friends and family, and simply laughing at the ridiculous awesomeness of life.
What is one of your favourite times you shared with Evie and why?
Oh, there are so many! One moment I will remember forever, is when Evie and I were jumping together on the trampoline at night. I imagined creating this energetic fire around us, crackling with love and excitement. Evie looked at me in the glow of the full moon, her eyes dancing with life and a big smile spread across her face. In that moment, the rest of the world fell away, and all that remained were the two of us, jumping high into the air, laughing our heads off and yelling "Woo-hoo!" into the big open sky.
Is there one personal learning that you would like to share with others?
There are so many! But I'm not going to share any, because I think the things you learn through Evie about yourself, about kids with autism, about the world, are things you just have to experience yourself. But I promise you, you will learn plenty from Evie.

What attracted you to be apart of Evie’s SRP? I wanted to make a valuable contribution in assisting Evie upon her journey of learning and discovery and to encourage Evie to explore her greater potential. I wanted to make a difference in a young child’s life, and participating in the Son-Rise Program offers fun and productive ways to inspire both Evie and myself to learn and grow together. Is there one personal learning that you would like to share with others, either something special that you have learnt from Eve, or being apart of a SRP & how has this helped you in your life? By being a part of Evie’s program, I have become more aware that every moment allows both of us an opportunity to learn and grow. I recall a special moment when Evie, meeting me for the very first time, came up and took my hand and wanted me to play with her. My heart was touched by her immediate display of trust and friendship. |

What attracted you to be a part of Evie’s SRP?
Well... at that time, I wanted to do something different so I was finding what to do and where to go. I was interested in Camp Hill or something like that. My soul wanted to be fulfilled. The way finding myself : Who am I? What is happiness?
My brother found Eve’s poster on Gumtree. When I read the poster, I felt LOVE, and SINCERITY. Actually, I was a little bit afraid because I hadn't been a volunteer with a special child and I was not good at communicating in English. But I just decided to go to Sunshine Coast.
In what ways are you able to help Evie?
Actually, Eve took me into her world. She taught me how to help her/play with her.
Don’t worry. Eve will teach you what her favorite plays are/how you can help her.
You just need Love/Willing to join her world

What is it that interests you to work with us? I have always wanted to be involved in special needs learning but in the last year I had come to appreciate the talents and potential of children with Autism. I worked with one boy who at six years old could not communicate verbally and every day I saw the frustration he felt as I constantly misunderstood what he was trying to tell me. I started to see that people write off those who are different because they do things in unconventional ways. However, this boy did things in the most unpredictable and creative ways which should not be seen as anything less than impressive. Even though he could not speak I knew that whatever was on his mind was much more complex then I could ever comprehend. In the video links you provided there was a lot of mention of Autism being considered a disorder. I believe that you are right to call it a gift as these children share with us the most beautiful way of looking at things. I want to work with you as I believe in this program so strongly and I would love the opportunity to get to know your beautiful daughter and have her share with me her way of viewing the world. |

When I saw your advertisement on Gumtree I had this feeling like, “this is what I have been waiting for”. working in an industry where the opportunity is there but not being able to put all the theory (Son Rise Program) into practice you get a guilty, sad feeling knowing there is more you could do but can’t. So that is why I would love the opportunity to work, play, interact and appreciate your very happy looking little girl, an amazing opportunity.
Ideally, what would you like to gain for yourself by being in Evie's program?
I have a feeling that working with Evie would help me to look a lot deeper at my own family and appreciate more each of them for who they are and how much they mean to me. To learn, listen to what is not said but to observe, to participate and to really enjoy the moment, and further my skills in learning the Son Rise Program.

What is it that interests you to work with us? I love the way the sunrise program works, all the philosophy about love, happiness and acceptance, really capture what I want in my life and in the life of my friends. What is one of your favourite time/play session you have shared with Evie & why? So many awesome moments, in the playroom and outside the playroom. I really loved all the times she took my hands to show me what she wants or when she was jumping with me on the trampoline... If I have to choice my favourite moment, It could be when she started to sing with me some simple melody I made up, and because the connection was strong, I could practice one of their goals while was having an incredible moment with her. |
